Literally and figuratively. Fun (highly upsetting for some of us) fact that I just learned about autism and can’t stop thinking about because now I am hyper aware of and constantly analyzing this behavior: When the assessments ask if we’re prone to “literal thinking” they don’t mean, “did I actually think that that headline was talking about bags?” What they mean is, “when I read or hear a clearly non-literal statement do I think of the literal meaning of the words first or the implied, non-literal meaning?” It turns out “literal thinking” does not actually literally mean “literal thinking” and frankly, that’s some REAL neurotypical bullshit to expect us to know that without telling us first. Now FIGURATIVELY, my life (and by extension, my business, because I do this all by myself thankyouverymuch) has hit a COMICALLY mixed bag situation in which finally, lifelong mental health issues are clearing up because spoiler alert! it was autism all along! I’m actually not any of the character flaws I’ve spent decades being shamed for if I just TAKE! CARE! OF! MY! NERVOUS! SYSTEM! Also, one kid finally almost gets long division! And the other one is mostly correctly dressing himself! And I’m doing a fun lil challenge over on TikTok that actually IS inspiring and motivating me to actually do a good job at my job. But then also, there is some DRAMAAAAA that I am not (legally?) at liberty to air out publicly (if we are friends irl PLEASE lets go out for a drink soon because this tea is PIPING HOT) that is equal parts stressful and hilarious, we are on day 83 with no child support (RIP my savings account), and my kids are about to leave for the summer and I am like, pre-grieving (even thought some of my bigger concerns about summer break have been alleviated), plus I had aspirations of going to Italy alone this summer that aren’t happening but not because of the delusional reasons the person who’s fault it is that I’m not going to Italy alone this summer thinks are the reason I’m not going to Italy alone this summer. Like I said, FIGURATIVELY. But like, LITERALLY? I do still have a few of my half-birthday surprise bags available. Go grab one for yourself and we can all go about having mixed bags together.
